4-CEC is more commonly called 4-Chloroethcathinone. It is a cathinone family stimulant which is also closely related to the phenethylamines. Like most of the cathinone stimulants, it is a modified synthetic version of a natural stimulant. It is first discovered in the leaves of the khat plant, still chewed for their stimulant effects to this day.

Known side effects of 4-CEC

4CEC is a relatively new research chemical, and as such there has been little published about its biological, toxicological or physiological effects. It does see some use as a recreational chemical, a so called ‘designer drug’, and so some reports have been made about its likely side effects.

Like many cathinone type synthetic stimulants, 4-CEC is associated with so called euphoric experiences. Some users report physical euphoria or ‘body high’ whilst others report a more cognitive, emotional experience. It is currently unknown whether this variation is primarily dosage-related or has more to do with individual sensitivity. Other users have reported hallucinations, but only at relatively high dosages. There are also reports of an energetic, stimulant effect, as would be expected from the chemical’s structure.

Users have also reported negative side effects when ingesting this chemical. Most of these include some degree of nausea, but others report a particular sense of ‘uncomfortable come-down’ at the latter parts of the experience. Physically, some users report a sensation of pressure applied to the sides of their faces, but this was considered merely distracting.

Some users seem to be particularly un-sensitive to the effects of 4-CEC, reporting little or no euphoria or even any stimulant effect.
